Firstly I am a visual artist, I draw, paint and sculpt (with clay) since my youth. I started face painting back in the late 80’s after taking my Professional Cosmetician Certification. Back then it was mostly grease paints I used. But I was hooked on it. I have been painting children’s faces for over 20 years.
My motto is “ Your face is my living canvas!”.
I studied Graphic Arts at Algonquin College and I have worked as a graphic artist for the government for 27 years, in 2013 I took my retirement to concentrate on my Art of Face, Body and Gestational painting.
I am mostly a self-taught face painter, learning from books before the internet was accessible. I have been a professional face painter since 1999. I have attended conference and taken many workshops in the past 10 years to update my skills, techniques, and speed from world famous MakeUp Artist/Face & Body Painters, such as Jinny MUA (Geneviève Houle) MakeUp Artist and designer for the Cirque du Soleil, the Wolfe Brother, Nick and Brian (RIP) Wolfe, Mark Reid, Sean Avram (contestant in Skin Wars), Lucie Brouillard, just to mention a few. I continue to expand my knowledge in the area of the makeup arts and Special FX makeup to keep me up to date with new products out there and increase my knowledge in this field.
I am a member of CAFABA.ca (Canadian Association of Face and Body Artists).
I continue to pursue training in the visual arts field, as it is my first passion that lead me to makeup. I’ve also completed a workshop for Artist Educator from the Royal Conservatory in 2013. I am also a member of the Ottawa Arts Council ARTS AOE.
I’m also pursuing training in the Arts and Health area.
In the past I have given several basic beginner face painting courses for volunteers and Halloween face painting for local schools and fundraising events. I will be soon offering more Beginner and Advanced Face Painting workshop in the Ottawa area.
